Information & Safety Tips
Check
out the following web sites for information on Outer Banks history, water
safety, marine life, and more: www.lbsoceanrescue.com
(for local information) and www.usla.org
(for the entire U.S.).
There
are many treasures to be found on the beaches throughout the year. One of
the most interesting is fulgurite. It s quite common for lightning to strike
the sandy areas of the Outer Banks, and when it does, the heat can fuse the
sand together to form a glassy stone called fulgurite. These quirky
formations come in all shapes and sizes and make for an interesting
conversation piece to bring home and display.
