Tips
The
Whalehead Preservation Trust and Wildlife Museum Board of Trustees host a
huge black-tie affair each October to raise funds for renovating Corolla's
Whalehead Club. Dubbed the Knights Ball (after Edward Collins Knight Jr.,
who had the mansion built for his wife), the event includes an open bar,
buffet dinner, live music, and a silent auction. For tickets and additional
information, see our Annual Events chapter or call Douglas Brindley at (252)
453-3000, extension 309.
Make
reservations for the things you really want to do before you leave home.
Especially in July and August, popular attractions such as The Lost
Colony sell out on special nights (like Family Night, when you can get a
great discount.)
Hand
this book to your teenager and give her or him the challenge of coming up
with a day's worth of free activities . . . then reward the whole family
with dinner out after your special day.
The
Outer Banks is no longer a ghost town in winter months! You'll find museums,
galleries, and other sites open year-round. Holidays are especially popular
times . . . why not plan to spend Christmas at the beach this year? You'll
be delighted at the way Roanoke Island celebrates Christmas these days!
