Six historic black churches in the New Bern area are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: St. Peter's A.M.E. Zion, St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Rue Chapel A.M.E. Church, St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, and First Missionary Baptist Church.
