Annual Events Tips

Many of the local events offer free admission, but you'll want to have some cash with you just in case. There's usually an opportunity to spend a little when it comes to food and drink, crafts, souvenirs or other tempting items. And remember: Vendors appreciate small bills!

Mardi Gras season prompts the annual gumbo, dance and music of the local Cajun/Zydeco musicians, Unknown Tongues at the Gloucester Community Center. This festive event is free and open to all who want to join in the spirit of the rural Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana in a Down East setting. Costumes are welcomed (bring your beads!) and there's lots of fun for the kids. Call (252) 729-8021 for information.
