A drive Down East, particularly
to Harkers Island and Cedar Island, will turn up several nice rental
cottages/houses. Some are handled by real estate agencies and many are
handled by the property owner. These rentals are popular and are booked year
after year by the same people, so we suggest you make arrangements early.
The Down East area offers a slower pace for vacationers. Don't look for a
vacation that's full of brightly lit stores, bustling hotels or wild night
spots. Plan on relaxing, spending time on the water, enjoying fresh seafood
and taking ferry rides to nearby Cape Lookout National Seashore. Mason's Vacation Rentals Mason's offers fully equipped, two-bedroom
mobile homes. Pets are welcome. The site is located close to the public boat
ramp and ferry services. There is a two-day minimum, and guests get one
night free with a week-long stay. Come stay a while with these folks and
relax. Larry and Sandy Mason will be happy to see you. Rose's Vacation Rentals Rose's Vacation Rentals offers four separate
units varying from cabins to a mobile unit. Each is priced reasonably, and
rates vary depending on the size of the unit and length of stay. During the
busy season there is a two-night minimum stay on the larger units. Rose's is
located about a half-mile from most of the island's conveniences. Guests
will find a grocery store, gift shops, restaurants and passenger ferries
located nearby. Overnight docking and a ramp for shallow-draft vessels are
available; inquire for the specific details. Rose's also offers two RV
hookups and a tent site.
