PetsIf you plan to bring a pet with you on
vacation, tell the rental agent. Some places allow them for an additional
fee. Some places don't allow pets at all, and vacationers who violate this
rule are subject to eviction, the loss of their deposit and payment of any

Length of StayMost vacation homes and condos are
rented on a weekly basis, particularly in the summer. If you would like just
a few days at the beach, check with an agency and see what can be arranged
for a two- or three-day rental. Everything is more flexible in the
off-season. Each rental unit is governed by rules and regulations spelled
out in rental brochures and contracts.

Other TipsRenting vacation accommodations is a
business, so approach it that way. Be sure to read the rental agreement
carefully and ask questions if there is anything you don't understand. By
getting all your questions answered, you can often reduce the number of
items you bring and make it an enjoyable vacation for everyone. If you are a
smoker, check to see if smoking is permitted. If you are planning a house
party, let the agent know in advance. If large parties are prohibited and
you ignore this rule, you could be evicted and lose your money. Rental
companies are usually happy to take messages and mail for you. Be sure to
let the folks at home know the name and street address of the unit where you
will be staying and the mailing address and phone number of the rental
company.
