General Hospital Carteret General Hospital is a 135-bed, not-for-profit community hospital serving eastern North Carolina. Since opening its doors in July 1967, Carteret General has grown from a small organization to a full-service hospital. The physicians and staff are among the finest healthcare providers in eastern Carolina. As the second-largest employer in Carteret County with 1,100 employees, the hospital has remained committed to improving the community's health and becoming the employer of choice. In addition, the hospital works with 65 active physicians and many consulting physicians to meet the community's growing healthcare needs. Educational programs are available for total joint and spine orthopedic surgery, heart failure, stroke, diabetes care and breast cancer care. Several of the hospital's excellence programs have been recognized for the commitment to quality patient care. The Carolinas Center for Joint & Spine surgery received the Ralph E. Snyder Innovator Award for Total Joint. The Raab Cancer Clinic's partnership with East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine allows the hospital to provide cutting-edge medical oncology, radiation therapy and chemotherapy for cancer patients right here in Carteret County. striving to exceed the expectations of its customers. Craven Regional Medical Center This major, 313-bed medical facility
provides a full complement of inpatient services, including
medical/surgical areas and units for neurosurgical, intensive and
intermediate care, women's care, pediatric care and cancer care. The
center has a medical staff of more than 180
board-certified/board-qualified physicians representing nearly all
medical specialties. The center includes 24-hour emergency room
service, outpatient surgery, diagnostic services, critical-care
units and cardiac-care services offering diagnostic catheterization
and open-heart surgery and radiation oncology. Magnetic resonance
imaging (MRI), CT scanning, home care, long-term care for older
adults, speech and language therapy, rehabilitation, adult
psychiatric services and women's health services are also offered.

medical facility that is accredited by the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. With more than 100
physicians on its medical staff, Onslow Memorial Hospital provides a
wide range of specialties, including cardiology, (Cardiac Cath Lab),
ENT, family practice, general surgery, orthopedic and pediatric
surgery, internal medicine, OB-GYN, neonatal intensive care,
neurosurgery, pain management, urology, a heartburn center and the
Women's Imaging Center. A $31.3 million expansion of the hospital's
Emergency Services and Surgical Pavilion is underway and will
feature about $4 million in new equipment and furnishings. Pitt County Memorial Hospital Pitt County Memorial Hospital
provides comprehensive acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and
outpatient health services to more than 1.2 million people in 29
counties. In an average year, about 33,000 inpatients and more than
266,000 outpatients are treated at Pitt Memorial. In a typical year,
more than 3,000 babies are born at the hospital. The clinical staff
includes more than 500 physicians and 1,200 nurses. Pitt Memorial is
one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina and is the
flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina
and serves as a teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine
at East Carolina University. Pitt Memorial is considered a regional

Morehead City and provide services to patients in the Crystal Coast
area. Each offers varying degrees of nursing, rehabilitation
therapies, medical social work, in-home aides, medical equipment and
supplies that allow patients the opportunity to live comfortably
within their own homes. Many of the services are reimbursable
through insurance, so be sure to ask. For additional providers,
contact your physician. Carteret Home Health Care As a service of Carteret General
Hospital, Carteret Home Health Care provides nursing-care services
for the homebound, including recovery therapies, personal care and
family-aid services. Aides can assist with bathing, meal preparation
and light housekeeping. Nurses can handle special needs such as IV
therapies, colostomy care, tube feedings and diabetic instruction. Liberty Home Care & Hospice Liberty Home Care is a private business that offers
a range of home-care services aimed at speeding recoveries and
shortening hospital stays. It offers skilled nursing care, physical
and occupational therapies and other services and supplies as
needed. Liberty Home Care has offices throughout North and South
Carolina.
Professional Nursing Service Professional Care Service is a
private firm that provides professional aid care. A professional
will assess the needs of the individual in his or her home. Sitters
and certified nurse assistants can then, based on need, assist with
bathing, transfers from bed to chair, meal preparation and light
